Ffxiv How to Get Jet Black Dye Domain_10
In Final Fantasy 14, different dyes are rather important when it comes to customising your character. Whether it is for your Fashion Report or for your glamour plate, acquiring the dye you want can be easy or tricky, depending on which dye you are after.
Neutral dyes are rather easy to attain. They can be bought for Gil from NPCs, acquired from specific vendors, crafted, or even bought from the in-game marketplace. Special dyes, however, are a little trickier to get your hands on.
How to Get Jet Black Dye
Not to be confused with Soot Black Dye, which can be acquired from the Ixali vendor or by crafting it, Jet Black Dye is much rarer and much more expensive.
The dye is prohibited from the market and is untradeable. Although, there are three ways in which you can acquire it.
Online Store
- The easiest yet most costly way to get Jet Black Dye is by directly purchasing it from the online store with real money. For ten pots of dye, it is typically $7.50.
Retainers Ventures
- When you have a retainer, you may assign tasks to them. They will then be sent out on missions for you and will often return with items after a particular amount of time.
For your retainer to (hopefully) bring you back some Jet Black Dye from one of their missions, they must first be Level ten. Once at Level ten, they can go on Quick Exploration, which are missions that last one hour. After these particular missions, your retainer will return with a single item.
However, these items can vary from anything between gear and furniture to fish and dyes. The rewards they may bring you are incredibly random, but they are occasionally rare items to come by; and, if you're lucky, they may bring you back some Jet Black Dye too.
Trading a Gold Chocobo Feather with a Calamity Salvager.
To gain a Gold Chocobo Feather, someone on your friends' list must return to the game using an invite that you have sent to them during a Callback Campaign. To do this, right-click their name in your friends' list and choose 'Invite Friend to Return' in the menu. Alternatively, you also earn them from the Recruit a Friend campaign.
There are then three Calamity Salvagers in which you can trade a Gold Chocobo Feather in exchange for five pots of Jet Black Dye. They are situated in the three following areas: Old Gridania (X: 10.0 Y: 8.4), Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X: 11.3 Y: 14.3), and Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X: 12.6 Y: 13.1).
An Alternative to Jet Black Dye
Ultimately, Jet Black Dye in Final Fantasy 14 is a difficult and rare item to acquire. A good alternative that you can opt for is Soot Black Dye if your attempts to get your hands on Jet Black Dye become too expensive or difficult. Above is a comparison between Soot Black Dye and Jet Black Dye, so you can see the minimal difference.
You can get Soot Black Dye from the following:
- Purchase from the Ixali Vendor in the North Shroud at (X:24.9, Y:22.7)
- Reward from Level 20 Main Scenario Quest "The Company You keep (Immortal Flames)"
- Reward from Level 21 Sidequest "A Porcine Plight"
- Reward from Level 70 Sidequest "Marks of the Monarch"
- Possible reward from the Level 60 Dungeon "The Fractal Continuum"
- Craft it via Carpenter, Blacksmith, Armorer, Goldsmith, Leatherwork, Weaver, Alchemist, or Culinarian recipe
- Purchase from the Market Board
